What to Expect in Your First Session
It’s completely normal to feel nervous or unsure about starting counseling. The first session is simply a chance for us to get to know each other and see whether it feels like a good fit.
Step 1: Reach Out
You can call 603-461-5329 to share a bit about what you’re looking for. We’ll talk briefly about your needs, answer questions, and schedule an initial appointment if it feels right. We offer a free 15 minute consultation.
Step 2: Arrive and Settle In
At your first in-person or virtual session, you’ll have time to settle in, get oriented, and go over any forms or questions. There is no pressure to share everything at once.
Step 3: Share What Brings You Here
We’ll talk about what has been hard lately, your history with counseling (if any), and what you hope might feel different. You are always in charge of what and how much you share.
Step 4: Plan Next Steps Together
Together we’ll discuss options for moving forward, including how often to meet and integrate evidence-based mind-body practices. You can take your time deciding what feels right.
Is This Right for You?
You may be wondering if what you’re going through is “enough” to seek help. Many people who reach out describe feeling:
- Overwhelmed by anxiety, worry, or racing thoughts
- Stuck in old patterns or unsure how to move forward
- Burnt out, exhausted, or disconnected from themselves
- Weighed down by grief, loss, or major life changes
- Concerned about a teen or family member who is struggling
If any of this resonates, you are not alone, and your experience matters. Reaching out for support is a strong, hopeful step—not a sign that you’ve failed or should have handled it on your own.
Together, we can create space for your feelings, explore what’s getting in the way, and gently build new ways of coping, relating, and caring for yourself.
